CyberHero, described as the world's first global humanoid robot sports league, has begun in Riyadh with plans for an inaugural season across eight cities. The first CyberHero x Riyadh event was held at Boulevard City on September 9. Hero Esports, one of Asia's largest esports companies, created the competition and plans to take it to the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Asia.

The Riyadh launch featured EngineAI T800 humanoid robots in a purpose-built combat arena. Standing about 1.73 metres tall and weighing between 75 and 85 kilograms, each robot has 29 articulated joints and can walk, run, punch, kick, turn and recover after falling. Two of the eight planned stops in the first global circuit will be held in the Middle East.

CyberHero uses a team structure with three main roles. Builders design and engineer the machines, coders develop and train their intelligence, and drivers make live decisions during competition. Organisers say the format can move physical AI from controlled laboratories into a competitive setting where performance data may help engineers improve future systems.

The league also aims to add more sporting disciplines as humanoid technology develops. Hero Esports is seeking partners from universities and the fields of education, tourism, technology, entertainment, business and music. The company already organises more than 7,000 esports competitions each year, and the Riyadh event provides an early look at how robotics may form a new category of international sport.
