Morocco’s small and medium-sized enterprises remain largely positive about their business prospects, according to Mastercard’s latest SME Confidence Index. The study found that 87 percent of Moroccan SMEs are confident about their outlook for the next 12 months. The findings were reported on June 29, 2026.
The survey covered sentiment, priorities, and growth expectations among SMEs across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In Morocco, many businesses said the growing domestic market was helping them stay confident. The report also found that 78 percent of Moroccan SMEs consider digital and online payment tools important for faster and more efficient growth.
Business expansion remains a major priority. Nearly half of Moroccan SMEs, or 49 percent, said maintaining and growing their business is their main goal for the coming year. Another 47 percent said they are already seeking opportunities to enter new markets.
Inflation remains a challenge, with 79 percent of respondents naming it as their biggest concern. Even so, 66 percent described the current economic situation as good. Mastercard’s Mohamed Benomar said Moroccan businesses are showing strong interest in digital payments, security, and workforce development.
