FM6SS and ABA LIFE Team Up to Develop AI-Based Healthcare Infrastructure in Morocco

The Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, known as FM6SS, and ABA LIFE, the healthcare division of ABA Technology, signed a strategic partnership agreement to create a joint venture for AI-supported healthcare infrastructure in Morocco.

The agreement was designed to support the modernisation of Morocco’s health system by combining medical knowledge, engineering, scientific research and advanced artificial intelligence. The planned venture aimed to develop and operate a new generation of smart healthcare services based on clinical quality, research and national technological capacity.

FM6SS said the partnership focused on creating a joint venture that would develop and manage smart healthcare infrastructure supported by sovereign artificial intelligence. Professor Lahcen Belyamani, Chairman and CEO of FM6SS, said the agreement reflected the foundation’s aim to bring together academic, clinical and scientific expertise with technological innovation to speed up healthcare reform and strengthen Morocco’s health sovereignty.

The joint venture was expected to begin operations in October 2026, with its first solutions scheduled for launch in the same month. Its initial work was planned to cover several healthcare facilities across Morocco by 2027, before expanding to other African countries in a second phase.

The project covered a wide range of healthcare activities, including medical research, clinical AI, telemedicine, biomedical engineering, biosurveillance, emergency response, home hospitalisation, public health programmes and HealthTech startup support. It was also planned as a platform for healthcare professionals, researchers, students, entrepreneurs and policymakers.

The partnership was built around three main areas: research and public health, the modernisation of clinical practices, and the creation of a HealthTech industrial ecosystem. Under the research and public health component, the venture aimed to support applied research in artificial intelligence, precision medicine and the One Health approach.

By 2030, the partners planned to support more than 50 research programmes and produce over 100 international scientific publications and communications. The initiative also included plans to establish an African Epidemiological Observatory by the end of 2026.

In clinical practice, the venture aimed to expand telemedicine services and improve training for healthcare workers. By 2030, it planned to train more than 100,000 healthcare professionals in AI technologies, introduce digital solutions in hundreds of healthcare institutions, and support more than 25 million teleconsultations and tele-expertise services.

The third area focused on developing a Moroccan HealthTech, MedTech and Biotech ecosystem with international reach. The partners planned to support more than 100 innovative startups, help build African technology leaders and contribute to the creation of more than 50 patents and intellectual property assets.

Mohamed Benouda, Chairman and CEO of ABA LIFE, said future healthcare systems would depend on the connection between medicine, engineering, artificial intelligence and improved healthcare operations. He said the partnership with FM6SS would help develop Moroccan solutions capable of addressing health challenges in Morocco, Africa and beyond.
